NO LE$$ - LE$$ON I

1993 was a year of transition in the West Bay scene as the members of the Old Guard of Immortal Fate, Plutocracy and 976, reorganized and emerged with new projects. While E.T.O. rose from ashes of 976 and Max started Spazz with Dan from Sheep Squeeze; Pelon and Snowman from Immortal Fate, Dan (aka Big Boy) from 976 and Kalmex and Stinkweed from Plutocracy formed the project NO LE$$. Having already pioneered new styles in death metal and grindcore (although the respective recordings would sit unreleased for years), NO LE$$ set out to play what they wanted, mixing their Parliament Funkadelic and Pink Floyd influences with quick blasts of grind and creeping Sabbath by way of Neurosis/Asbestosdeath riffs. ELECTRIC JUNGLE VIOLENCE! They literally sounded like no one else and as it goes with truly visionary projects like this, people were either instantly attracted or instantly repelled. “Le$$on One” was their PCP drenched debut, recorded at the end of 1993 by the legendary “recording guy” Bart Thurber at the original House of Faith in Palo Alto, CA. Originally released as a home dubbed cassette, 5 of the 8 tracks appear on their side of the split 7” with E.T.O. The entire tape was later comped on the “Le$$ons 93-98” CD released by Push Down and Turn in 2004. Dateline ‘24: Carnalismo Recordz presents the remastered “Le$$on One” session in its entirety for the first time on vinyl. Spark up a hog leg, tilt back the 24 and prepare to be enveloped by the Framework. WBAD.
