Grand Invincible - Contraband Altars

Is this their 6th LP or 2nd EP? However you slice it, GI is back with the grime and the good time. Rumor has it, this started out as an "beat tape" project by DJ EONS ONE that a somnolent record label left shelved and forgotten. Luckily LUKE SICK had secretly bootlegged the whole thing, creating 9 futuristically bleak rap songs from the 11 instro bangers. Carnalismo popped on the scene to reconceive and reconfigure the whole thing as CONTRABAND ALTARS, like when the jackbooted corrupt Tetris-together the spoils of the raid.

On CONTRABAND ALTARS, GRAND INVINCIBLE bring their inimitable mix of elements to a new level of encrusted power. Paranoia and foreboding parallel microphone violence. Intensely held beliefs of the west bay cacophony segue into Gurp City blunt seminars. The $tinkweed (RIP) drop on the second song, “Keep The Party Live,” reminds heads that these sublime manipulations all run with an undercurrent of serious threat. 150 on tape. WBAD.
